The Buzz is a regular summary of housing market news and data driving our decision-making at BlueBid.

Here's the Buzz for the week of February 4, 2025:

  • Fast Company says active listings rose 24.6% between January 2024 and January 2025. Still, we're a whopping 25.3% below pre-pandemic levels.

  • Newsweek breaks down how President Trump's tariffs could impact the housing market.

  • Homebuilder associations have asked for building materials to be exempt from new tariffs, as CNBC reports more than 70% of certain essential materials come from Canada and Mexico, respectively.

  • Redfin finds agent commissions have risen slightly since new real estate commission rules went into effect on August 17. Commissions for more expensive homes have fallen slightly during the same time period.

  • Average commissions for BlueBid's partner agents have been well above national averages for both buyers and sellers, and the platform now boasts more than 16,000 homeowners in the early stages of selling. If you're a top agent looking to meet more pre-market sellers and active buyers, we'd love to chat

Have a great week.
