The Buzz is a regular summary of housing market news and data driving our decision-making at BlueBid.

Here's the Buzz for the week of March 18, 2025:

  • Single-family housing starts rose 11.4% to a seasonally adjusted rate of 1.109 million units last month, according to Yahoo Finance

  • Despite the recent surge in housing starts, Reuters writes that US homebuilder sentiment recently hit a 7-month low.

  • Per Realtor.com, the average rate on 30-year fixed home loans rose slightly to 6.65% for the week ending March 13. The uptick broke a 7-week streak of falling rates after peaking north of 7% in January.

  • Newsweek explores how newly imposed tariffs could slow the US housing market in 2025.

  • A recent article from Investopedia pegs the US housing shortage at 3.8 million homes. We’re doing our part to tap new inventory and chip away at the shortage, as thousands of pre-market homes you won’t find on other listing services appear on BlueBid.

Have a great week.
